Running with MAP sensor unhooked?

I have been having some issues with my truck, pulled all the codes on it and got everything fixed except for the MAP sensor. I dont want to go buy one for $170, i was going to order one online, or maybe one of you guys have one. But is it ok to run the truck for a couple days with no MAP sensor if i stay out of the boost? Kinda worried about runaway but i think if the MAP is out of range or the PCM can not connect to it the PCM goes into default mode. Tell me if this is not true.
