OBDII for 97 PSD advice...
Hey guys..
Kinda new to PSDs but I got a 97 F250 PSD and wanted to invest in a decent OBDII scan tool. Looking for recommendations. I know about the AutoIngenuity devices but thats too rich for me. What can I get at a place like Sears that would serve me well? Hoping to keep it under $100 but could go a little higher for a worthy unit. Thanks |

Doubt you'll find anything under 100$, The majority of you cheap code readers at the parts house will not read our trucks.
You can search Ebay, and find a used Snap On "brick" MT2500, should be able to pick one up for under 300 Another option would be a used OTC Nemysis, should be able to ebay one of those in the sub 300$ Range also. HTH |

Also, you may want to look into a Scangauge by Aeroforce,
You should be able to get one from a vendor on the board for about 250$ish, It will do all the tests, cylinder contribution, buzz test, KOER, KOEO, and let you monitor most parameters of you truck. |

Well I broke down and orderd an AutoEnginuity Scantool with the enhanced Ford package. When I really thought about it although it was a chunk of change, it seemed the smart thing to do since it offers such extensive testing and diagnostics and especially when I realized it would probably retain a lot of its resale value if I wanted to sell it in a worst case scenario. Cost me about 360 and now that I have made the decision I cant wait for it to arrive.
Thanks for all the advice. Last edited by NYC Diesel; 03-20-2011 at 03:17 PM. |
