Unhappy power difference...what do u think?

I sold my 97 F250 pstroke 5spd six months ago, and missed it...except for the five speed.

So I just bought a 1996 F250 4x4 supercab longbed auto 200k miles 4.10 gears, apparently all stock. It starts and runs good with very little blowby, it's only fault is a small (yet annoying) exhaust leak.

A couple of days later I got so excited that I bought a 1995 F250 4x4 supercab longbed auto 225k miles 3.55 gears, apparently all stock. It starts and runs good with very little blowby, it's only fault is a bit of rust (this too is annoying)

The '96 feels a little sluggish in regular driving.
The '95 on the other hand feels like a powerhouse at all times!

So my wife and I drove to an abandoned airstrip nearby, and drag raced each other...to my surprise we were neck and neck right up to 75 miles per hour.

I suspect the exhuast leak may be pre turbo and causing low boost in regular driving conditions (when the other truck feels so powerful)......

any thoughts would be appreciated!!

Check around to find the exhaust leak. Sometimes the bolts holding the exhaust housing to the turbo come lose and fall out. Collector (up-pipe) donut gaskets can leak as well.

they are my favorite truck...a modern classic...
it's getting hard to find a real nice one, and the guys that have them know it and either don't want to let them go...or they want a fortune for 'em.

Yea, I was honed in on the wife part too! And she wasn't afraid to run fender to fender and keep up with him.

You've got keepers there - the 95, the 96, and the wife!
