HPOP
Okay this morning my truck started and stalled i had to add a quart of oil to it she started right up. Do you think the oil pump is on its way out?
I dont mind replacing it. I found them on ebay for 380 bucks. But how hard are they to change out? |

That happened to me last summer. My driver's side valve cover was leaking and I got lazy about checking the oil level. Ya just ran low on oil. No worries.

The powerstroke motor runs off oil. Oil pressure operates the injectors. So if you lose oil pressure the injectors dont fire. Its kinda a prevention too, so if u lose oil pressure your truck will quit before you wipe a motor. If your truck is too low on oil it wont run. The question is where has the oil gone! In my case it was oil leaking past the injector O rings. Hope that helps

I added the oil to the hpop cause it happend once last year. I replace the injector o-rings so im thinking its the oil pump? I found them on ebay abd this website for like 380ish. Do you think its going? When i added oil to it it took 2 seconds to catch then ran like crap for a min almost stalled till the air was bleed out.

Thats how they run until you get all th air out of the system.
doubt its the pump itself. you'd be getting an SES light, and have really low power. could be the IPR going out. thats what regulates the HPOP pressure. check and see if youre leaking oil, or burning it. you could be losing it past your o rings in your injectors, but I bet you have a small leak since youre not adding oil all the time. |
