crappy broken door handle issue
Since i have gotten my 96 OBS i have been thru probably 5 or 6 door handles on the drivers side....the replacements i buy are from advance. granted they are not that hard to replace, or take very long to replace.....but its just a PITA when you go to open your door and wind up with a plastic handle in your hand. so here inlies the question.....do they make billet handles or metal handles for our trucks? i dont like chrome but if its metal i dont really care anymore, i just want some door handles that dont break!

after some reasearch it turns out that the likely cause of breaking them so often is a stretched door latch cable. Majes sense- if the cable isnt engaging soon enough you have to pull further and harder to open the door....

napa carries/ can get ahold of the metal door handles. Also, the 80-91 metal door handles look like they will bolt right up

Are you sure the acutal doors inner skin isn't broken? They tend to tear where the handle base bolts onto the sheetmetal. I would check that for sure. Most are torn.
