HPOP Question

I have a 95 F250 I sold a kid I drove for four mounths he had for a mouth and quit running changed cam posion sencer he has at a shop and they say it's the HPOP it has less then 500 pis do these normaly go out like that running fine then not running. It will run but takes quite a few cranks to start then runs with a miss. They are not a normal diesel shop but a grenal all shop so i'm thinking the might be over looking some thing. I'm going to start working on monday when it gets to the house. Thanks JJ

The ICP and IPR can control pressure. I would check there.

Thanks that's what i was thinking figered where i would start but not sure how. Also how do i hook up a line pressure gage to see what it is. They say less then 500psi but i want to check for my self. Thanks

You could get a Snap On MT2500 scaner used for $200-300 and check it plus have a usefull tool..

Try unpluging the IPR, also check the oil level in the rez

Thanks. Will it run with out the IPR. I didn't get a chance to work on it yet. when he brought it to me he let it warm up for ten and ran fine took a 20 to 30 seconds of cranking to start but ran fine after that. when warm 15 sec to start and runs fine. After it sat 4-5 hour it start like cold and i didn't let warm up. took off right a way ran fine for about fifty foot then boged down wound not rpm or speed up blowing white smoke for about 1/4-1/2 mile then took off ran normal the last mile home haven't had tim to look at sence. Has any one on here used the autometer hpop gage they sell are they good or junk. thanks JJ

Before you start it check the reservoir oil level should be within 1" of the top..

Ya find a scanner. It'll tell ya everything you need to know. Try calling around i'm sure you can find someone who has one that that would let you use it for a few bucks. A buddy of mine has a Snap on scanner dont know what model but i had the same prob your having and it was the IPR. We pulled one off a spare engine and had it fixed in 20 mins.
