winter fuel mileage
96 7.3 4x4 This is my first diesel and I have been learnig alot as I go. I was getting 19mpg this summer and I live in maine. I notice about a month ago my fuel mileage dropped to barely 16mpg. The only thing diff. I did was add ak&n filter which according to a local performance shop should no question boost my fuel mileage. It has gotten alot colder and I believe the stations swithched over to a winter blend and of course there is more warm up time now. Is this normal to see the fuel mileage drop this much?

fuel mileage
thanks for the info. I just installed the k&n filter at about the same time my fuel mileage dropped off, I was surprised considering the shop where I purchased the filter said i would see a mile or two per gallon increase in mpg. Just a litle disapointing

Confirming the shop that sold you the product said it'd make your truck run better. As far as I know, intake / air filter alone, will not improve your mileage enough to notice on these trucks. Of course I'm not selling you anything.

Take into consideration your warmup time while the truck is just idling not racking up miles
