General 7.3 Powerstroke Question

Hi all, hoping I might ask a few questions. Back in the summer I was able to finally get a old of a truck that I have wanted for a long time, A 96 OBS Ext Cab Long Bed Powerstroke! I have always loved the 7.3's, and before I bought my 6.4 in 08 I almost bought a crew 7.3, but the wife wanted me to get a new truck.. no arguments from me

So winter is in full swing here in iowa, and the truck starts like a champ thus far, even sitting outside all day at work in the 15* weather today, cranked right up. The work under the valve covers this summer paid off.

So on to my question, I am curious about the warm up strategy on the OBS trucks. My Dad's '00 will high idle itself and kicks in the EBPV while sitting warming up. My OBS doesn't high idle at all, which I am thinking is normal, but the EBPV does kick in until you start to accelerate, and stays on through acceleration until the truck really warms up. I am just curious if this is normal or not and what to expect from the EBPV.

Appreciate any insight!

The OBS doesn't have the automatic high idle strategy like the SD does. And the EBPV thing is normal. If it bugs you too much, just unplug it.

Thanks for the insight and all the compliments Looking forward to this spring so I can tear into it a bit more. Thinking about a MRBP exahust and maybe an S&B intake. Right now I am running an edge tuner that I picked up for free from my father, but might go to a DP or Wildman - I happy with it for now, though...... It's my daily so don't need anything to crazy
