Gearing Question

Is there any way to find out the gear ratio in my rear end without taking the diff cover off? Would my vin number tell me? And if anyone knows, what all will my vin tell me? If I can get some useful info from it I would drive up to a dealership and have them print out the vin info on my truck

On the door pillar decal there will be an area marked "axle" with a 2 digit code. Google "ford axle codes" and look up your code.
