I just recently signed up and looking to get involved. I just recently bought a 96 7.3L long bed crew cab. The owner put a banks housing on the exhaust side of the turbo and said he replaced the impeller with one from an 03. He already did the DP, torque converter, transcommand, and intercooler.

I added S&B cold air, and looking towards doing the electric fuel system mod, exhaust, IDM, HPOP, and possibly the injectors to a stage 1 or 2. Im looking to gain power but not kill me on fuel and maintain the daily driver until i get something else. If someone could point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

does it have a chip? youll need one to make use of the mods. and not can tuned, yuoll want cutom tunes.

someone correct me if im wrong, but isnt the OBS wheel better than the SD wheel?

The SD wheel will flow more air but is more prone to surge. Not too often someone puts an SD wheel in an OBS turbo for sure!

Thats what the previous owner said he put on im not sure how to verify as i havent seen anything else before.

Ive been trying to research on the h2e i know i got to go through and put studs in to support the mods just need to get the resources lined up.

Im still going through and getting maintenance done, ive got to go through and replace injector rings and maybe sleeves if there bad... I got white smoke on start up, idle after shes warmed up and when i get on it. but doesnt smell out of the ordinary.

I also have a chip its not installed when i installed it the truck would crank but not start, i cleaned the the ecm and chip but didnt make a difference. im new to chips so an edumacation might be neccesary

where did you get thw chip? who's chip is it? ie.e TW, PHP, DP, etc.

I got the chip from the guy i bought the truck from, its a banks performance module i cant remember the code on it right now.

the code on the chip is M1F7 or MLF7 he didnt say but its written on it. i was told that once the chip is installed the file or program on the chip is transferred and no longer on the chip. just what i was told.

know if its a banks tune or if someone overwrote it with custom tunes?

if the banks chip can take a custom tuen youll need that for hardware upgrades. i.e. injectors, turbo, hpop, etc.

Ditch the banks, get a TS style chip from one of the many vendors on here. Also do you have any gauges in that beast? that might be a good start also. But hey lets see some pics of it
