Newbie Questions
Is there somewhere I can go to lookup my vehicle stock specs?
I dont have the sticker under the hood to tell me my gear ratio, however, the one inside driver door jam says axle C5.... Also, I, like all I assume, have the dual tank setup, I want to know how much each tank holds. I am planning to do a 500 miles trip leaving friday towing my jeep and want to calculate my fuel mileage. Also, any place to order the door pin for the driver side, the pin that controls the dome light and buzzer as mine is busted off. Does anyone know anything about this chip, its OLD school and still in original box was never installed. US Gear Torq Line Power Chip... I am planning to install a Edge programmer in the next month once I save up to get my trans temp and EGT temp package, so I take it its pointless to install this old chip? Also, the truck has 33 12.50 16 tires, stock door spec says 235/85/16, so do i have a lift or level kit on it? Pic of the truck:

Truck looks stock, someone just poked some bigger tires under there. Fuel tanks are 19 and 17 gallon, I believe. 500 mile trip you might need 1 fill up. Have fun filling the tanks, especially the rear one, they like to spit diesel back out at you (but there is a mod you can do later to solve this problem). I know nothing of that chip.
Nice looking truck, how many miles? Welcome to the site, stick around and learn how to spend all kinds of money on that bad boy

Oh and to find out what was original equipment on your truck, send an email to Ford. The email address is crcfmc@ford.com They requested the following info:

Your truck in stock form will either have 3.55 or 4.10 gear ratio. With those tires, and 3.55 gearing you would be at approx. 2100 rpm at 70 mph. If the rpms are higher at 70 you would have the 4.10's

The C5 is a limited slip 4.10

she has 209,000 miles on it, took it out for a 250 mile drive today, I know it has 4.10s cause at 70mph its runnin bout 24-2500 rmps, I put it to it a few times today, love the ride... trailer hooked up just not loaded up with my jeep.
I hope not to spend too much money on the truck... mainly because I have a hobby with my jeep already that costs me way to much. Thank god I got my buddies trailer for this weekend that has a winch because i know she prolly wont go back up on its own power. On a side note, i was to leave at 5am tomorrow, however got a phone call for a job interview, 1st interview in 2.5 years at 930am so I wont be leaving till later! |

DP- DP Tuner Bean's Diesel Gearhead Automotive (talk to Matt) Swamp's Diesel BTS- Brian's Truck Shop (talk to Cale) |

TW - Tony Wildman (tune also avaialble at stealthautomotive)
DP - DP Tuner PHP - Power Hungry Perfomance Beans - Beans Diesel they are all more or less the same, small differences matters to soem and not others. the edge is what we call a canned tune. its generic and also doesnt take into account your transmission. custom tunes will, they will manage your egts much better, youll probably get more power, your tranny will like you more. these tunes are specificalyl designed for the powerstroke. plus most tunes will reburn your tunes if free if you decide to change something. if you move to larger inejctors, turbo intercooler, hpop, etc, or any ove of the above you will need a custom tune to run them properly. edge wont know the difference. |
