starts on second try?

ok, so i saw a post a long while ago on this and cannot find it...

usually my truck start with the bump of the key. about 30% or 40% of the time you go to start and it will crank and crank, but if you stop and immediatly try again it starts at the bump of the key again. does this hot or cold. i keep forgetting to watch the tach for cps diag. does this sound like typical CPS issue? or something else? oil levels are fine.
