what supports the front axle?
i have a 97 f350 and last winter the 4x4 work perfectly. here latley i got stuck in my front yard towen somone and a few others cuz my pass front axle wouldnt engage.so i pulled everything apart to find that it was al junked up with a rusty coloring to it. so cleaned it all up and put new bearings and seal in the hub. put everything back together and lock the hub..... still wont engage. come to find out the axle is wiggling/whobbling so much that the splins on the hub wont engage unless i lift up on the axle at the ujoint. so my question is where is the axle supported inside of the diff?

no extra support inside. sounds like your splines are all ate up inside where it slides into the ring gear. you might want to check it out.
