what do you think about my vitals
Hey guys got a truck a few weeks back and finally got some gauges and was wandering if my numbers sound ok. Its a 97 f350 with 236 on the od, 4x4 crew cab, auto trans (supposedly replaced 60,000 ago with a oem ford trans) a k&n intake, 3 inch down pipe into a 4inch exhaust. and supposedly swamp stage 2 injectors. I drove around for about 45 minutes and it was about 75 degrees outside..
Ill start with boost witch isnt that big of a deal but most i saw was about 22-23 which was more then i thought id get ![]() The egt (mounted in the driver side exhaust manifold) was between 200-300 at idle and when i was w.o.t. got up to 1300 right at 80mph...it was there less then a second though...normal driving in between lights and open road cruising was between500-900 max. Im a little worried about the trans... buy then end of my 45 minute testing period (mashing the skinny pedal way more then usuall) the trans temp peaked at 200.... it sat at 180 for a while but i really flogged it at the end and thats when it got hot. i think it has a trans cooler on it but it looked old and crappy at best so im deffanitly going to invest in a top-of-the-line cooler. so what do you guys think? |

New tranny fluid might be worthwhile, should help the temps get down a little bit. I think 200 when you're really on it isn't that bad...230 would be a good time to pull over and let it cool off. Better yet, just drop a 5 speed in it
