1994.5 powerstroke, turbo question
OK this truck is stock and i just put on the napa big air filter., Question i have would that change how the turbo feels, before going up a interstate ramp or when hitting around 2000 rpms you could feel alittle increase take off. Seams like after putting the big air filter on i dont seem to feel this as i did before. Is it cause before it was restricted and when it the turbo would kick in you would feel the extra torque? Now with all the air its more gradual with the turbo??? Just feels alittle bit different with the big air filter,,, anyone else run into this???

If all you did was replace an air filter, it's probably in your head.
But, just outta curiosity, what condition was your old filter in? |

Nothing was wrong with it, looked pretty good actually but after doing so much reading i wanted to step up to bigger air filter... It might be in my head but i just thought i could feel the thrust increase around 2000 rpms and now i cant like i did before, i just figured maybe it was starving for air then when turbo kicked in you could feel it, now since its getting alot more air before turbo kicks in that you dont have that thrust that you could feel but more gradual,, oh well maybe its me

Now do the down pipe too keep the air moving thru if you are looking for something more

Gut feeling, would be that the engine is getting more air earlier and making a small amount of more power lower in the RPM range, and not relying on the turbo boost as much. Does it feel like it has more power down low in the rpm range?

well im not sure if i have anymore power lower speed or rps or not,, actually i feel i have lost power to tell you the truth,, If not its the same,, i think by going witht he downpipe i will see more power,, I do notice i had more play in the pedal sitting in nuetral and giving it some gas seems to be more responsive.. other then that i can hear the open air filter , I did have a buddy listen but had to rev it up pretty hard for him to hear the turbo,,, im not worry about it to much as i believe once i get the downpipe it will come back to life...
