Is motorcraft brand better?

While at the ford dealer today, a part person told me Ishould only use motor craft fuel filters. He said some aftermarket filters have caused the fuel heater element to short out because its not sized right. I have used Motorcraft oil/fuel filters only but just got hastings filters for the next change. The hastings filter came with its own cap. Will those be as good or should I get OEM parts? And does anyone use motorcraft 15w40. I have only used RotillaT up untill now but was thinking of changing.

I have seen issues with the FF's on 7.3's. I am sure that is what you are refering to. Many aftermarket filters for the 7.3 downright suck. I never did understand buying a cap and filter everytime either. Makes it hard when your in the middle of nowhere and your filter gets clogged and all you can find is a filter. Then you sit around looking for a cap. All I run is Motorcraft 15-40.

all I ever run is the NAPA gold "wix" filter and my new billet cap because the plastic caps break , I had two of those POS caps split and blow out the Oring thus loseing a lot of fuel and making a huge mess.

I like that billit cap. I have never seen a Ford cap brake by itself. I have seen people that dont know how to take them off break them. But I have seen many broke aftermarket ones. Where did you get that cap at?

the stock caps both broke under pressure while going down the road not during removal. I had the cap custom made and am selling them, check the 99-03 forums for more info

I use motorcraft filters and their 15-40 oil. no special reason other than its readly availible and I try to use OEM parts whenever possible. I haven't had any problems with the filter lid, but I like the looks of the billet one.
