DIY Tymar question?
Ok, I just got my tymar filter from fleetfilters.com, I didn't have a chance to put it on today due to me having to go to a funeral. I am going to put it on tomorrow after a some work around the house. My question is, now that I'm getting rid of the stock filter and box, will the turbo spool faster, and will the turbo get louder? I'm always looking to make the turbo whistle louder so anyone with some advice please let me know. My mods so far are: Tymar intake(tomorrow), Edge Evolution on 80hp, 4" straight pipe from turbo back, CAT and Muffler delete, Pyro, tranny temp, & Boost guages on A pillar. Besides the Tymar filter and removing the insultion on the tube going to the turbo how can I get it louder without buying an aftermarket turbo? Check out my garage for some pictures of my truck. yeah it'll make the turbo whistle a little louder, and the exhaust will be a little louder too. not sure about spooling up. Never paid attention to mine before and after.

|
does anyone worry about the filter getting wet? or taking all the hot air from the engine? are these things to worry about or am i crazy?

I drove through a pounding rain the day after I put it in.. and I even played in the flooded streets.. never had a issue with the filter getting wet.. maybe a few drops but nothing to be concerned about

If that still isn't enough whistle for you check out a wicked wheel compressor wheel. It will make it whistle more and is fairly cheap for around 70-80$. Good luck

Yes it will whistle, yes it will spool quicker.
Don't worry about water getting in there unless you're in water that would be too deep for the stock filter. Any small amount that does enter the filter will likely evaporate on its way to the cylinder or help cool egt's if it even makes it that far. Many people do the ZOODAD mod and the tymar intake and do not have any problems.
