water pump life expectancy

anyone has any idea what the life expectancy is for a water pump in a 96er 7.3 PSD???
i have 126k miles on my rig. i would like to plan ahead if possible.

My 95 was changed at about 90,000 I've got 128,000 on it now. It probably
depends a lot on the coolant and additives that you use. I know some that have run 250,000 with no problem. Other than that it's a crap shoot.

i am on the original pump. i don't go more 20k miles before doing a coolant change. i don't stress very much if at all.

I had to replace mine at 130K. But when you have it replaced make sure you go to ford and buy the additive for it. I think it is fw15 or something like that. Anyway it helps a lot. Just follow the instructions on that. Keep it in there.

Mine lasted to 165K, and make sure you get the additive for it.

Mine has 175k on it. Had a '95 that went out at just over 200k.

My OEM pump on my 7.3 went at 179,000 and 11 years old. Coolant was changed every 50,000 miles. Not bad, hope to get that kind of life from the 6.0.

i don't use any additive, just running coolant.

I add IXL to my coolant and double the life of my pump. IXL is a water soluble metal conditioner and is some awesome stuff. ixldirect.com
