I have a 96 model f350 five speed 7.3 .I went to change transmission fluid and then i found out someone else had tried also and stripped the head off the bolt where you refill the transmission. no wrench will fit filler bolt now .any ideals or is there another way to refill it??

Mine had a bolt that was just about stripped so I just started filling it from the top where the shifter is. I can't remember the exact procedure for talking it apart but once you get your boot off around the stick, it's pretty easy to figure out. A tranny shop I went to one time said that he always did it this way because he could get a little more fluid in by bypassing the regular fill hole.

Get a socket and pound it on. Undo. If that doesn't work, arc weld a socket onto the mungled plug. Undo, replace....

I actually can't remember right now. I'll have to look it up to see.
