HI I am new to this site, I am looking to purchase my first diesel truck. The one I am looking at is a 95' F350 CC LB 4x4 PSD. It has 250,000 mi. and looks to be in fairly good condition. The guy who is selling it says it may need an injector. I asked why he thought so he said the engine shutters like there is a miss in it. He also said the the transfer case was kind of hard to engage but work fine once it was. He's only asking $3,000 for the truck and my questions are: could an injector going out (or out) cause the 7.3 to shutter or could it something else, and could there be anything major wrong with it? And what could cause the transfer case to be rough to engage.(manual transfer case). I'm no dummy to mechanics but no wiz either so you can be pretty technical if you have to be. I am new to diesel engines though as far as the innner mechanics and functions so any info would be greatly apreciated thanks.

the miss could be a number of things. but most likely an injector as he stated. i too have no idea on the t-case.

Might just be the linkage on the T case. They can get stiff if not used all the time. Someone on here just did a writeup on adding a grease fitting to it.

the injectors could be in need of clean oil and more quantity?
250K is about time for originals to be fading though. By the way seems to be a good price if sheet metal and interior are good. What is the cab and bed configuration. |
