I need a chip

Everyone here seems to love the chips for PSD. My truck is s 94 reg cab 4v4 it pulls more than anything i ever need to.. cars and such. I am considering like a 60 hp chip just for mileage, and if power comes with it great. BTW my truck has 300K on it and i really cannot afford to blow it up.

What chip would you guys reccomend?? Superchip, Bully, etc..???

NO. None of those are as good as a custom burned chip. Those are just generic, and not even that great really. Maybe the best generic chip is the TS chips. And if you get one of those, a lot of the custom tuners will burn their tunes onto them. Tony Wildman and Total Diesel Performance, DP tuners, PHP, Matt at Gearhead, Swamps. Those are the most poplular.

So.. should i get one of those chips or a custom tune? Do i have to have a chip period to get a custom tune? I know this sounds dumb but i dont know much about diesels, only small block carb motors for me before i bought this truck lol.

Yea the chip plugs into the back of the computer and then you select which tune to run and it runs it. First you need an intake a free-er flowing exhaust and you SHOULD have gauges, otherwise something might break if you don't know what you're doing to it.

Agreed here too. Custom tune chip. TW and most others will reburn them for free if you ever want them to, or make additional mods and need a reburn to use them to their potential. I know Stealth Automotive sells TW chips and guage packages. at teh very least get a pyro guage. boost and tranny temp guages are advised but not required.

ok i have a superchip and i love it. it gives pleanty of power gives a little smoke it has helped my mileage and my temps never really get hot unless you are holding it to the floor for a while

I use the Bully Dog six position chip,and am more than satisfied

Generic tunes will work fine but they are not as good as custom tunes that are tuned for what all you have on your truck. If it has an intake, exhaust, 4x4, upgraded turbo, injectors, transmission, anything.
