Just need some tips
Hey you guys, I just joined this forum and i am just looking for advice. I have a 94 F250 7.3L with 297K, leveld out, 33" nittos, warn push bar w/ winch. I bought this truck 6 years ago simply because i got it for 2000 bucks, and it runs great as far as i can tell. I have only put about 10K on this truck because i always had a company truck. But i recently got laid off and now this truck must be my daily driver 50 miles a day to the new job. I just wanted some tips to make this truck more efficient it gets terrible mileage and i dont know where to start. I have some street tires that i am going to put on this week and i put a new air filter in today. But i have NO IDEA what to do to a diesel engine to begin with. Filters, Injectors, Pumps.
What should i do for regular maintence, and most importantly MILEAGE. Anything would help thanks alot. |

Sorry for your luck.
Well I hope you put a aFe or S&B hig flow filter on it. if not you can just waith till the paper one gets dirty. Put a strait pipe, that will help air flow. Try a 60hp chip ad drive it easy. It will run like hell and blow smoke when you lay into it. But that uses alot of fuel. And run Lucas or some other fuel lubricant on a reguar basis. helps injecors fire efficiently and keeps valve and upper cylenders in good shape. Thats a cheap start. Those simple mods and getting those 33's off should et you up to milage you can live with. |

Thanks for the info, i put in a fuel filter today as well. I got a friend with a muffler shop and since i dont have emmisions out here i am going to see if he can straight pipe it with no cat or anything on it, that should help.
BTW i tried to drain the water out of the seperator today, i have never done this before and i was expecting alot of water to come out, because i read yesterday that i am supposed to do this once a month or so. But nothing came out at all. What does this mean? like i said i put a new fuel filter on today. |

DIY intake, its in the "7.3 mod help" section somewhere. stright pipe, stock tires, injector cleaner. i like to drain the fuel bowl, fill it with sea foam, and run it for a few minutes then shut it off for a few hours. a custom tune from TW or someone with the Economy setting (adds 60 to 80hp) helps, espciailly with a light foot.
i have noticed the same thing, i get no drain until i loosen the fuel filter due to vacuum (like putting your finger on a full straw). all the diesel will pittle out. 1. DIY Intake 2. Tires 3. Straight pipe 4. Chip 5. Injector cleaner |
