WTT 96 REAR aXLE w 3.55 for superduty 4.10 Wiill it work?
HI
One big Q. I have a 96 PSD single rear axle with a 3.55. I want to move to a 4.10 posi and I found one out of a superduty. Would you just swap 3rd members or would you do the whole swap if both axles were in similar condition and wear? I think Id like the 4wheel discs but I really dont want to change to the newer superduty bolt pattern. I take it the OBS and superduty axles are interchangeable(width, mounts, etc). Any experienced ideas I'd appreciate greatly. thanks |

Not sure on widths, etc. but the OBS and SD have different wheel bolt patterns (as you've mentioned.) The OBS has a 10.25" ring gear, and the SD has a 10.5" ring gear. The center sections are interchangable, and the ABS rings are the same. So you could take SD posi, but the gears wouldn't fit.
