Is this normal?

now that i have my cat and muffler gone, i have noticed everytime i have my foot on the gas there is black smoke coming out, and when i am running higher rpms theres alot, like going up hills at 2000rpm, its a big cloud of black smoke, is this normal? i know that you can expect black smoke from diesels, but i am worried that she sherrif or police will see it and ill get in trouble cause the cat is gone? what do you think?

well its a 95 f-250, 3 inch downpipe, 3 1/2 inch straight back from that, banks chip, dont know what kind, just bought the truck, banks trans command, stock turbo, tranny cooler. the highest the boost gauge ever goes is about 15 so when i see the smoke i dont think its any higher that 5. also i noticed that the exhaust temp gauge is runnin about 600 now when im drivin, i didnt used to notice it bein that high?

well that temp is normal..... i dont no about the boost cuz i dont have the same year truck but i would think it would be making more with the banks...... and when your running low boost like that speially in high gear like 4th and over drive your going to see some good amounts of smoke specially with a chip..... so you should be alright..... unless the smoke is blue or white..... not just a little white but alot of white smoke

Try changing the air filter. It may be dirty or it may be time to upgrade to a high-flow system. The black smoke indicates the engine is getting more fuel than it can burn with the available amount of air.

Took the words right out of my mouth. If there is black smoke you can clear alot of it up if you still have stock injectors. Look into getting a DIY tymar intake, or get it from the originator tymarperformance.com , There is a "how to" on this forum somewhere, maybe someone will post it for you. Good luck
