So I decided to fix my diff seal leak. Never done it before but seemed easy enough. Got the cover pulled, cleaned and painted. Put it all together and let the gasket rtv set overnight. My research said it should take 8.5 pints of fluid. Bought 5 qts of royal purple 75w90 and.... got 3.5 qts in before it started falling out of the fill hole. Question is: do I need to drive it around and then put more in or do I not have the c5 axle (limited slip, 4.10gr, 10.25") my door jam says I do? Or was my info bad? Tag number is S 132N L10 10 2 6D03.
I'm definately learning lots fast. Just don't want to screw it up. Four kids eat alot.
I'd say full is full, if it's coming out the fill hole it's full. Only factor I could see changing that would be if your on an incline and the diff is not level. Did you add the friction modifier? If you have a functioning limited slip i would. Not sure if the fluid you bought has it built in.
Copy that. I guess I'll return the unopened one. Yes the fluid I bought has the friction modifier in it already but thanks for bringing that up. They don't put limited slip in front ends do they? I haven't looked up my front axle at all. I just know I need to change the fluid because it's milky.
Nope, I don't think I've heard of a factory limited slip front. It should be open, and if I remember correctly it just calls for regular gear oil. It should say in your manual.
Thanks. I thought so but I figured I'd ask. Manual? Hahahahaha. It's a ranch truck I bought. All it had was pican hulls and tractor parts in it when I got home.... and lots of dirt
