Oil Temperatures

I have a 1996 F-350 Dually with an automatic transmission, Banks Power Pack with Trans Command Module. Oil temperature gauge sensor is mounted at the Oil Filter as per Banks Instructions. The temperature runs around 240 degrees when not towing and higher when working. This temperature seems high, is it because of where the sensor is mounted?

When you say in the oil filter housing are you talking about the side going to or coming from the oil cooler?? I would put it in the line returning from the cooler. I think that the temp going into the cooler is less important, I would rather know if the cooler is working efficiently. just my opinion

well you gotta remeber that its oil temp not coolant temp and you are gonna get higher temps...with this warm weather that sounds about right...mabe very slightly high...mine rarely gets above 200. your oil temp will be roughly 20-30 degrees above coolant temps.

I installed the temp probe on the oil filter/cooler housing. There was a plug in the housing and that is where Banks recommended installing the sensor.
