Talking Finally, a new exhaust, and other parts.

I couldn't take it any longer. Suffered with hard starting through the winter, assuming it was due to the cold weather. As you all know, cold starts produce clouds of white smoke from the exhaust, but in my case, it was coming into the cab and from around the hood. Although the weather warmed up, it was still hard to start and the smoke was no better. Some warm weather research showed the down pipe was rusted out, the GPR was bad, and the heater fan cover wasn't sealed to the fire wall. Replaced the GPR, tightened the heater box and sealed it, and tomorrow, I get a complete new 4" exhaust w/ 3" down pipe. Life's good!

speaking of cold starts and clouds of smoke lol. Do you ever have blue on start up? Mine will blue cloud if its below 32 deg and not plugged in. If its plugged in and cold ~15 deg it will smoke blue a bit. I thought o rings maybe but i've checked the fuel bowl and its clear diesel. No signs of any oil in there.

First full day of play with the new exhaust in place. What a difference, she don't purr like a kitten, more like growling like a grizzly. This is a Diamond Eye exhaust, 3" down and 4" to the rear with a 5" tip. This has a real throaty tone to it. Well worth the money in my opinion.

95PDXLT, I get the same blue smoke, from what I've read, it's normal for our rigs.
