Turbo spooling. Problem or normal?

Hey guys this might be a silly question. My turbo starts to spool around 2000RPM while moving but If I'm in neutral(5speed) sitting still and I rev over 2000 my turbo won't spool. Is that normal? Is it only supposed to spool when moving?

Your not loading it while in neutral, you can rev it till it blows and probly only register 3 psi or so.

Its normal, your loading it while rhe vehicle is moving and that is why you can build psi.

EDIT: around 2k rpm is when you say it starts to spool, throttle matted in gear on a hard acceleration obviously whats your max psi youve seen if you have a boost gauge?

My max psi I've seen about 30. But that was when I first got the truck I drive pretty conservatively so I don't really like to push it too hard.

As stated, you will not build boost without load. Free revving in park or neutral will yield maybe only a couple pounds of boost.

So yes, I would say what you are seeing is completely normal.

another vote for normality. you're not loading the snail, so
it won't build boost.

If you can register 30psi while loading it you have no issues with your turbo, do you have a tuner on it?
