a couple newb questions

thanks for the help on my last post but i missed the sale..he sold it 2 quick

i finally sold my truck tho and im lookin at a few from about 95-97.

ive heard from friends that i need to stay away from auto tranny's on a diesel..is that true? i found a good deal on one thats auto with a rebuilt tranny and turbo. it also has a leak from the valve cover..and idk if thats an easy fix or something big to worry about. here is the link if u want to further chek it out and. he said he'll take 4500 for it but its about a 9 hr drive for me.

i just want a stroke bad but dont wanna rush it and make a mistake.

Nothing wrong with an auto tranny in a diesel, as long as your not constantly abusing it.

he said 236k on the body but 30 or 40k on the tranny..

Well, the leak under the valve cover I'm not sure about, so I'll let others chime in on that.

Other than that, he's done a bit of the usual stuff.(DP & exhaust, chip, gauges) Intake? (stock?, aftermarket?, diy?)

236K isn't too bad. 30k-40k on a rebuilt tranny isn't too bad either. But did he just get a standard rebuild? Or a tranny built to take serious performance?

All in all, I'd say that if he'd take $4,500, it's probably not that bad of a deal, so long as the leak from under the valve cover isn't a biggie.

Does he have records/ receipts for his upgrades and maintenance? What was his maintenance schedule? What's he done?
