Can that be run safely? If not...why?

I'm running a 36x15.5 on a 18x9 wheel. No problems.

yeah but I will only have half of an inch between the width of the rim and the tire.

should be fine theyre just a complete pia to mount up even with the machine its hard

I personally wouldnt go more the 4.5" over rim width. you can run 12.5" tires on some 9" rims. I would like that better. thats just me though.

I wouldn't worry about it, guys run 12 inch wide tires on the skinny dually rims, and still tow with them.
