Ran out of fuel

My fuel gauge is no longer working I found out the hard way. I have completely ran the system dry I cranked till the motor wouldn't start no more cause I thought I had a different problem at the time. What is the best way to get fuel back through. I probably have an airlock now cause it went so dry. I put 5 gallons in but no results. It does have spuder when cranking sometimes and but I never wants to start. It also poors white smoke, unburnt diesel, out the exhaust when it spuders. I need some advice

fill it with fuel, then take the filter cap off, turn it to start, but dont turn it over, wait till the bowl fills up. you might have to leave it for a couple hours, but it will start. happened to mine a couple times.

have you tried to pressurize the fuel tank while cranking? ive had to do that before when i install a new fuel pump or electric fuel system. if you dont have a compressor at the very least make sure the filler cap is loose on the tank that your switched to.

Thanks for the advice. I got her running. I just keep putting fuel in the bowl and cranking it up and she started.
