Okay guys my ac unit seams to be acting up a little. Seams like when I turn the unit on to the Normal position it just does not blow as cold as it did for some reason.Seams to work fine in the Max position.It just started this about a week ago.Is there a door in the system thats supposed to switch the flow when you go from the Normal position to the Max position ? Im thinking that door is not opening properly & possibly causing my problem. Any thoughts guys. Thanks

Okay i have tried searching for air conditioner posts/threads & not many come up. I just want to try & solve the problem before it gets any worse & costs more money to fix. Can anybody point me in the right direction on what I need to check on this 96' OBS truck air conditioner system cause I really dont know much about it but willing to learn. Like I said it just seams to all of a sudden not to be cooling vety good in the normal position but seams to work fine in the max position. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the compressor cycle and does the air change speed as you turn it from the lowest setting to the max setting?

Yes the compressor does cycle & the speed does change from lowest to highest blower setting. I have also noticed from time to time when at idle it will be cooling fine & then all of a sudden it will start blowing hot air for a few minutes & them it will start cooling again. Here lately it just seams like its cooling but just not as cold as it was a few weeks back. Guess I will just have to have it checked out because I dont really know where to start. I thought there might be some switches / vacuum items I might be able to check myself so I could avoid the charges of taking it into a repair shop. Thanks

Honestly, you might just need to recharge your system. These trucks aren't spring chickens anymore. They've got many years, and lord knows how many miles, and how many hours of opperation on their A/C systems.

It could be quite a bit cheaper to just give it a shot to recharge your system by yourself, before you take it to a shop.

Not meaning to hijack but get this. Mine was doing the same thing a while back. Turned out it was a switch on top the compressor that had gotten old and loose. I shimmed in and it held contact. Then this spring it stopped working all together. There is a bolt on the front of the clutch that fell OUT and locked it up. Sure was hot this summer. Isn't that bad now. Hope you get it worked out.
