I would say keep the truck, its far less expensive than a 6.4. upgrade your injectors, your HPOP and turbo. find out where the knock is coming from. you can even rebuild your current turbo if you dont go beyond stage 1 injectors.
The knock may just be an injector. DIY stage 1's are inexpensive, i think you can even put on an SD turbo, dont forget to replace your glows with motorcraft ones while your in there. and might as well upgrade your glow relay to the stancor as well.
these are great truck, and unless the p*ss has run out of it, 187k is nothing for these motors. there are guys here who have started modding at over 300k.
