OK, here is my story; I am new to the forum and somewhat new to diesels. I have a 95 F350 CC 7.3. The truck has 185K on the chassis but only 85K on the “factory replaced” motor and trans. This past spring I towed my jeep (8500 .lbs) out to Moab, UT and in Colorado I could not maintain 20 mph up the passes. Hell the semis were passing me with no problem up the pass. The motor just seems to be tiered and worn out.

The story gets better. My brother is in college studding diesel engineering technology. He is in need of a project for the spring semester. So the new plan is to have him re-build the motor. Since I am pulling to motor and tearing it apart I figure it is a good time to add some power adders.

Guys, what should I do to the motor for more power. This is how it currently sits:

DP Tuners chip 20-40-80-120 HP
Tymar intake
Cobbled together 3.5-4” exhaust
3” downpipe

Plans:
Bigger injectoers
Bigger turbo (which one , not sure)
6.0 intercooler
6 speed swap
bigger pump
Bigger cam
Pistons?

What else should I do?

well first off man welcome! also i think we will need some more info, are you looking for a daily driver, what are your HP goals and such, this will make alot of the decisions on the parts you want much easier

it is NOT a DD, as for HP i think 400 whp would be nice to tow 9K lbs for the single trailer. I also have a 30' goose that weights in at about 18k# fully loaded.

well deffintly a intercooler, i think you will be ok with stage 2 injectors, as for turbo a D66 will do you just fine. i wouldnt go threw the 5 speed swap, it gunna cost as much as a nice BTS built auto trans anyways, your gunna need a good custome chip, TW, Swamps, DP do good jobs as far a tunes, it looks like your set with the exhaust, maybe fix the cob job up alittle but otherwise it seems ok lol, your gunna need a bigger HPOP, you can get a 17* one off of a SD and that should be fine, thats pretty much the basic stuff, Matt P and GMDuraturd should chime in shortly and could probubly add alittle to my list

I too would suggest the BTS built Tranny. Here is my list...

Stage 2 Injectors
Replace mechanical fuel pump with electric
17* HPOP or better
head studs
D66 turbo
TW Chip
Intercooler
ISS Pro Guages
DIY/Tymar Intake

thats what come to mind at the moment. your engine may be fine but have other problems, but i wont get into that since your looking for a build. keep us informed!

I don't know about the BTS tranny, thats some serious coin. Also I forgot to mention that on cold starts it has a lot of blue smoke. Also when its turned up the soot has a blue haze to it, not exactly black. Thats part fo the reasoning behind an overhaul.

well just by your original post, your going to spend atleast 4-5K already, so i'd go with the BTS tranny as well because they have a great reputation on 4R100'S

and an h2e turbo seen first hand and have heard they are good little pricey tho

my plan when i get my 7.3 is:
adrenaline hpop
diy stage 3 injectors
gtp38r turbo
diy regulated return fuel system
tymar intake
built tranny,
oh and TW chip
from what i hear most guys running this set-up are around 500hp.
oh and dont forget head studs
