quick newbie exhaust question

Hey guys-

Just got a 97 ccsb 4x4 and want to cut the cat off...Will my check engine light come on after I cut the cat off and/or will my mpg suffer? Any other downside?

Thanks,
CB

as said above nothing to be worried about. make sure you do check local laws for "Diesels" emission and what not just to be on the safe side though
