Turbo Going?

I HAVE A STOCK 97 PSD NO MODS AT ALL...I WANT TO MOD IT BUT NOT SURE IF TURBO IS GOING OR NOT...YOU CAN ONLY FEEL TURBO WHEN ITS COLD OR AT LOW RPMS BUT WHEN IT GET ABOVE 1800 IT FEELS AS IF THERE IS NO TURBO AND TRUCK IS A DOG ITS GOT 170K MILES ON IT BUT ITS BEEN REBUILT MOTOR AND I CHANGED THE OIL BUT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE...THANKS

can you hear the turbo spool above 1800? If it were me I would install a boost guage, if you plan to mod it your gonna need it anyways and then you could tell if your acctually building boost or not

my 95 has 185k miles never had anything done to it.(was well maintained though by the original owner to haul a camper) its an auto and it is just starting to pull hard at ~1500rpm.You can hear the turbo working big time @2000-2500rpm. Something is definately not right. Mine is an xtd cab 4X4 auto with 3.55's. I can only imagine how hard a std with 4.10s must pull.
