Ok,
so what I understand

ECT Engine Coolant temperature...sensor is over by thermostat.
(and one I recently replaced just for laughs)
can't read with scan tool? is this right?
even when hot?
I've seen the -40,
but then witnessed it tracking the EOT yesterday once EOT hit 160F....idling in the drive.
this am, even the raw signal seems dead but I didn't let it heat up....

The PCM only monitors EOT. The coolant temp has a sender for the dash gauge only and a temp switch for the overheat warning light. There is no electrical interface with the PCM. The EOT and ECT will track together fairly close as the oil cooler uses coolant to cool the oil. Cheers!

Just trying to get this going again. I have the same question.

If there's already a coolant sensor, couldn't I just tie into it and put a gauge elsewhere?

The sending unit range and output needs to match the gauge. Cheers!
