Operating ranges
I just made a round trip through the mountains to get hay and installed my gauges just before the trip. Going over empty tran was 160, EGT peaked at 1200 @ 20 psi going up a steep grade. Coming back with 3000 pounds in the bed, trans was about the same , EGT hit 1200 once, the rest of the time 800-1000. I was real happy with the performance but wondering if this is a normal range. I am fixing to tow my 10000 5th wheel and want to know what to expect

Sounds fairly normal to me. We need more info on the truck though, stock, tuned, ect...

Thanks. I have a 97 F250. Mods are cat delete, tymar, gauges, amsoil bypass, coolant filter, kicker stereo...etc. No performance mods except tymar. And I just checked the mileage and I got 16.89 with 3000 pounds in the bed! Normally I get 20-21

Sounds about normal temps stock. You will see 1300 EGTs on really long steep hills just try to stay out of it.

1300? I always thought 1100-1150 was redline for any duration. Is there some sort of transient limitation? for example 1300 for less than 1 minute or 1500 for less than 30 seconds. Turbine engines have these kinds of limitations.
