7.3 burning oil

I have a 7.3 thats burning about 2 qts of oil in 400 miles. could somebody tell me where to start looking for a solution? there are no leaks under the truck nor any puddles under it. thanks in advance.

mines doing the same thing my valve cover gaskets are leaking though changing them this weekend, and my truck does smoke...but only when i put a new air filter in


but try checking your valve covers might be what it is

For the most part the valve covers aren't leaking. nothing out of the usual like puddles under the truck. the underbody is clean too.

well i heard that there are a couple of bolts on the back of the motor that have orings on them idk if youll be able to see themor not any oil in the valley?

K, I'll check them out. As for the valley, it's dry, no significant amount of oil.

Burning or using? Its not to uncommon for a 7.3 to use oil when the injectors start to fail internally, also if the orings on the injectors go bad. Check you fuel filter and see if it looks like it may have some oil in the system.

Well I'm not sure cause it doesn't smoke and theres no sign of leakage nor is there any signs of performance loss. I just have to put oil in every time i fill up. but ill check the o-rings and fuel filter. the valley is clean too.
