loosing lots of oil

hey guys, i have a question for you 7.3 gurus...

my dads friends 95 e350 van is having a serious oil issue, to my knowledge and his lol he had the valve cover gasket replaced on the passenger side, he said the injector harness goes through it and was cracked so they replaced the gasket and harness.

he called me less then a month ago and says the van runs like crap can you look at it, when i get there i checked the dipstick and it wasnt even touching so i filled it with oil 6 QTs low! after that the van ran awesome. i also flushed the coolant out because the upper rad hose wasnt building pressure. after the flush it was good.

he called me today and said he had to add another 4 QTs of oil. he hasnt even been through a full tank of fuel and lost 4 qts.

no oil drips or anything, no oil in the water. he gets a slight blue start up and then clears up after maybe 5 seconds. however the exhaust is so strong its burning your eyes even standing in the front of the van.

im not really sure where the oil is going and i would like to help him. but dont have the slightest idea where the oil could be going

my guess and what i am going to do tomorrow is check the turbo, im having a feeling that could be the culprit. maybe he isnt blowing smoke at idle but while driving with a load it is.

if any of you guys have any ideas or what i should be looking at please let me know. thanks in advance

The crank case vent CCV, vents right into the intake, pre turbo on pickups. Don't know about vans for sure, but I don't imagine they're any different. They won't push 4 quarts of oil in under a tank though. Not without other issues that would probably be obvious.

I'd say you're on track with checkin the turbo out though. You'll find some oil in the intake, don't let that scare you. If you find any in the downpipe, if you can even get to it, you found your problem.

Check the turbo for in and out and up and down play. Should be minimal up and down, if any. No in and out.
