Ideling?
how long have anybody left there truck ideling in summer or winter?
and was it on high idle or regular idle speed? How much fuel does it use on both? Is it hard on the motor to idle for long periods of time? |

I've had days in the winter when I've been plowing snow when the trucks been fired up first thing in the AM and left running all day. On days like that the truck will sometimes idle for an hour or so while I'm shoveling or moving vehicles around. I don't have any way to manually bump the idle up although the computer runs it up after a bit to keep things warm. I'm sure that it's not the best thing for the truck and it's horrible for fuel mileage. I figure that's outweighed but the fact that when I get back in it and start plowing I'm not working a cold engine. I also like the warm cab.
