ok so I am new to owning a diesel. but I am already loving it. I am driving a 1997 F250HD 4X4 7.3L crew cab. so my question is how do I know if it a powerstroke or if its a straight 7.3L diesel. When I have been looking up parts and all some things list both a 7.3L and a 7.3L powerstroke. so this is probably a total newb question but any information would be greatly helped.
also what is the difference between a Heavy duty and a supper duty. |

A 1997 is a powerstroke. Any 7.3 after 94.5 is a powerstroke. They are direct injected and electronically controlled.

ya I would l like to know what the difference is too.
I figured it was something like ford just went from from using HD to Super duty on the newer trucks. |

in 97-98 they had the F250 light duties that looked like F150s, and the OBS trucks were called Heavy Duties in those years, I do believe.

Correct. The 97-98 F250 light duty looked like a 97-03 F150. The OBS 97's were re-badged as "F250 HEAVY DUTY." I don't think there was any OBS production in 1998 (re-tooling for the SD?) Later (1999?) the F250 LD was re-badged as the F150 T7700 (7700lb GVWR)

so is my 95 an LD? since it appears it pre-dates the LD HD terminology?
