Dana 60 axle's in the junk yard.
I found a 1997F-250 with a dana 60 front end in the junk yard... I went to look for a lock-out for my 1997... For some reason I have one with 3 screws and a taper. And the other is a 6 screw warn????
Anyways was looking at the truck and noticed a straight axle under the front, check the rear tag, and I believe it is a limited slip differential (has an L in the diff tag) not sure on the gear ratio's, but I'm buying the set for $550! I think the front axle is a ball-joint style, but I'm still tickled pink. I'm almost debating buying the whole thing if he will sell it cheap, it's a crew-cab, looks like a nice truck, but alot of interior has been taken, and the front end is all gone. |

Well, got started looking at them close at the junk yard and one U joint is shot in the front axle, everything else seemed to be OK..... He knocked $100 off.... Hopefully I didn't just buy a heap of junk.

I took them back the same day.... The truck was a 1997 F-250 with a powerstroke that had been run off the road (or something similar...) and it had the dana 60 front swapped under it. When it went off the cast housing hit the cross member, and popped all the spot welds on the passengers side of the differential housing. It was probably still an OK deal, but I wasn't willing to have all that work done.....
Ohhh well, no straight axle for now! |
