What is the procedure to do a compression test on my powerstroke??
-Disconnect valve cover gasket -pull glow plugs thread in compression tester crank engine by starter??? orrr?? |

disconnect the ecm power. remove all injector. or if it is done through the glow plugs then remove all glow plugs. remove the air filter. the engine needs to crank at 175 rpm 4 a minimum. Record your readings on paper.
do not remove the injectors, they test it through the glow plug hole. remove all glow plugs. Best done when engine is warm. If any are low squirt about a tblspn of oil into the glowplug hole and retest. if it comes up rings or scoring is the problem. a better way to analyze the condition is leak down test and follow with a borescope inspection. |

i would opt for the leak down like gmsmith says. its the simplest and best way. should be 350-400 psi across the board. anywhere in the 365-375 is good.

I just pull the glow plugs on one side and now going todo the other side |
