Installing lights on running boards

OK, I am kinda new here but here is my latest project to illuminate my steps.

To start with the design involved the lights coming on with thee running lights and with unlocking the doors with the remote. To accomplish this I pulled the kick panel on the passenger side and tapped into the harness for the roof clearence lights (brown wire of harness) and also on the non hot side (grey) of the door open plunger. The door plunger non hot side is hot when the dome light comes on with either the alarm or an open door.

After I tapped the two sources I built two leads with a diode in each. that was to prevent any back current.

Routing wires was next and then attaching the led strips with double-sided trim tape.

The diodes were Radio Shack, the LED strips eBay, misc zip ties, heat shrink, connectors and wire.
