I think they call it the DooDad (?) mod? I have thought about drilling holes in the side to let more air into the engine area but wondered about water etc blasting in there spraying my open filter ???

ZooDad mod - Zoo Dad.

Specifically cutting an area out roughly the size of the factory intake on the drivers side of the grill inset - allowing a rush of fresh air somewhat funneled directly into the intake.

I had 20 minutes to spare a few months ago - and with nothing better to do - staring at my grill - I decided to do it. Grabbed a zawzaw blade and screwdriver and went to town. Girlfriend walked by - looked at me kind of funny - you know the look - "what the heck is he doing" kind of look but didnt say anything. Honestly I dont know if it helps or not. I cut a hole roughly 2.5x5 in my grill. Cant really see it unless you are looking for it.

On my style truck (SD trucks) its called the zoo dad mod. You take off the grille and on the drivers side is the air intake, you would just drill or grind the hole out bigger to allow more air in. If youre worried about debris you can get a kit with a filter to put back in but i'm not sure if thats what the op was talking about or if the same mod can be done to an obs truck
