need camper shell help quick

so i found this shell on CL. i have a 96 f350 cc lb. click on the add for pics.

Leer Camper Shell

the guy selling it has ZERO knowledge about the camper........

the dimensions look correct. how about the shape of the front around the cab? it appears to have a third brake light cut out. i have a third brake light but i have not seen a shell for my truck with this yet.

so looking for a quick .org professional opinion here, is it worth the drive to go see it in person? you now have as much info as i do and i have spoken to the seller 3 times. im going in the morning to see it.

thanks guys, B!!!!

That is a "NEWER" Leer XR

The add is VERY misleading. A Cap newer than 88 will NOT fit both a Ford, and chevy.

In 88 the Chevy went Very aero and the cap is narrower in the rear than the front.

In 99 Ford did the same

94 dodge did similar

You need a cap from a .....
97 and older Ford
87 and older chevy
93 and older dodge

Looking for Blue 40-20-40 seats. PM me !!!!!!!

Best thing to do is go there and put it on to make sure it will fit. I was looking for one for my 2013 f250 and they want $2300.00 for the cap I want. So I looked on craigslist and found one the same model and exact color however it was on a 2004 f350 and I was not sure it would fit. Drove 60 miles and came home with it.

well i went and picked the shell up today and its a perfect fit.
like i said the add was vague and it was an older guy that barely spoke english so i had no idea what i was going to find. but i scored!! the shell is in great shape and it has a full carpet headliner a back light with wiring intact and even the window screen are perfect. (getting torn out tomorrow and dog screens going in) it was filthy but under that dirt was a a great barn find. spent the evening scrubbing and cleaning and its awesome!!!! and it was a perfect obs lb fit

going to be a nice warm and dry duck season finally!!!!

I discovered this one is not an exact fit. Meaning the later model tail gates have the bump out on the top for the optional step and do not allow the cap door to close tightly. I suspect the only difference is the bottom plastic edge on the window has the bump out molded in it. I am going to call ARE on Monday to see if I can just buy the later model part. Otherwise the cap has to be pushed back on the bed to close all the way.

A simple tailgate swap will fix that
