Mirror Mounted Antennas?

I know... dumb topic, but I'm trying to find a nice set of CB antennas to mount on my upper mirror arms.

Anyone know of a company offering a set that saddle clamps to the upper arm?

Planning to run the cable through the base housing (with grommet) and route with the door wiring to give it a clean look.

Thanks!

Any decent truck stop should have CB accessories. Radio Shack has 'em too. Since your going to mount to the mirror, I would recommend running a ground wire from the mount to chassis and routing it with your antenna cable; just to make sure that your antenna is grounded properly. Bad grounds can reak havok on your reception. (I know...I have the worst alt-whine b/c my antenna isn't grounded properly...and I NEED to fix it.)

Mirror Mount Antennas

From a performance standpoint, mirror mounts aren't a good choice for antennas on our trucks. An electrical ground can be accomplished with a short length of wire, but you still won't have an effective RF image plane for the antenna. Without that image plane, performance is going to be compromised. Additionally, it will be very difficult to adjust the antenna for a good SWR.

Hood edge, stake pocket, etc will all perform better and be more easily tuned.

thanks for the info... from what I've read there's a science to tuning the antennas properly. I goofed, this message should have been in the 99 - 03 category. I'm thought thre might be an antenna mount for the oval mirror arms on the SuperDuty trucks.

thanks again for the help... I'm leaning towards Wilson antennas.
