99-04 bumper to my 96 OBS project

Found this bumper locally but it fits a superduty 99 -04 not my 96. I can get this cheap and its in great shape. Any one modded a newer bumper to fit there OBS?

What am I in for?

Thanks

know anyone with a 99-04 sd that will let you look and compare them w/o bumpers, you could weld up a peice that fits over your factory frame rails in the front and compensates the difference in between a 88-98 and 99-04

I imagine it would take a bit to get it fabbed to your truck, and even then I think it would look out of place. Im interested to see pics if you happen to get it installed.

SD frame is wider and the shape of the nose is completely different. It's going to take a ton of work to make it look good.

well how much wider is an SD compared to our obs trucks? seems like brackets bolted to your frame rails that mimic the SD frame rails, and it mite look funny, you could buy it and sell it for the amount of a ranch hand bumper that is actually made for your truck though

I think you could make some adapter brackets that mount to the frame to fit the SD bumper mounting holes.

Got it home and It don't look to hard to mount up. The adapters will be easy to make. The bumper was made to sit 12 inch forward of the grill. That leave me a lot of material to work with and make it look like it belongs on my truck. It will be a few weeks before i can start this project but i will take pics as i go.

started on the adapters today. They will slide into the frame rails and be bolted and welded. I will have to pick up some 3/8s plate steel to weld to the inserts. The bumper will bolt to this. I will take a few pics of what i made today.
