Super Duty Tailgate

OK, so I'm seriously thinkin about an 08-10 tailgate for my truck. I really like the look of them, but I know that they arent wide enough for the OBS trucks. Height wise they are about dead on. I was thinkin about finding a used one and having a local body shop that I trust cut and widen it to fit. What do you guys think? Lookin for some opinions here! Thanks guys!

That tailgate is going to look like CRAP on an OBS because the body lines aren't even close to matching, but to each his own.

im in the market for a new gate too, i want to do something to spice up the body a bit. i'm fairly good with body work, i was thinking about skining a 08 gate onto an obs one, and sectioning it so that the body lines look right.
i would like to incorporate the step, but i dont thing that would happen.

probably step up to the same era rear bumper too. color matched.

that would be neat, and some of them even have a camera in them, so you could incorporate that as well

I need a new gate too, I think I am going to try to hinge it on the sides, and make a latching system in the middle. So it will open like the rear doors of an excursion. Not sure why, but I haven always wanted to try it. I'm not going to start it until this winter. I'm sure someone on here will call me a dumbass, but that's okay. I just like to mess with stuff, just to see if I can do it. HAHA

Thats an interesting idea. Id definately like to see pics of that when it's done. I still need to go find a superduty gate at the junkyard. Should be interesting to see what they got.

Just got a new tailgate. Ordere it from Pershing Auto Body online. I ordered it complete with all hardware and had it painted by them to match my truck. I like that it is de-badged and clean looking. That said, it took about 7 weeks for them to ship it and I had to take apart the locking mechanism and they installed it wrong. It was about $500 shipped. I tried to find junkyard ones and couldn't find any in decent shape.

Would a mid 80s tail gate with FORD across the center fit?

Say a 1985? Without the aluminum panel.

Yes, I'm pretty sure 80-96 would be same size and just about exact same shape
